We love elopements and the freedom that they afford couples who want to get married! I mean, why do it any other way than exactly how you want it to be? So when Zara and Joel reached out to us, we immediately fell in love with what they wanted to do – a no frills downtown Toronto elopement that completely kicked tradition and convention to the curb, instead opting for tattoos, a food tour, and making things official with just them, us (we love being official witnesses), and an officiant!
Matching tattoos!
To kick things off, we met these two at Pravda Tattoo Parlor in the Junction where they had made an appointment to get couples tattoos to immortalize their wedding date! Having couples tattoos of our own, we related to and applauded this decision big time! Female Tattooer knocked it out of the park with their design – a flaming book with each others’ first initial and the date of their elopement!
Food tour!
Getting tattooed worked up their appetite, so we followed these two around as they went on a food tour! Their first stop was at Superpoint Pizza on Ossington for some slices to go, then over to Lambo’s Deli for some amazing sub sandwiches (we recommend ordering ahead of time if you’re looking to pick up from there yourself!), and finishing up at Matty’s Patty’s on Queen West for some burgers and fries! The food seriously had us drooling and Matt did end up getting himself a burger!
Finally got hitched!
After their feasting we simply walked across the street to Trinity Bellwoods where we had some fun with one of the park worker’s golf cart (thanks for being so cool about it!) and met up with their officiant to seal the deal! Jonny Belinko was super professional, easy going, and kept things light and fun to cap off an amazing afternoon of doing things their own way!
