Whim & Willow

Evelyn + Trevor // The Symes

Trevor + Evelyn (or “Trevelyn” as their friends like to call them) were one of our couples that had to postpone their wedding by a year. When things got bad again around their second date, we were worried that they’d have to postpone again, but with a determination to finally marry each other, and a shift in their original plans, they finally got to say I do, and we couldn’t have had a better time documenting it all for them! Yay for finally doing the damn thing!

One of the things that we noticed right off the bat was that these two have such a solid crew of friends & it was really awesome to be in the middle of all the love & laughs while these two were getting ready! On both sides, the morning felt so positive + fun, but also super chilled out! We loved the hilarious champagne pop + super sweet first look with the girls. Trevor gave out really cool gifts to the groomsmen which included their accessories for the day + watching them try to figure out how to tie a bowtie (always harder when beer is involved) was a true bonding moment 4 lyfe hahaha. Evelyn got to put on her gear for the day, in a quiet room with mom, and that felt really special to be a part of.

Once we arrived at The Symes, they both got to have separate moments where they read letters + opened the little gifts they got for each other (Old memories were exchanged, and v important + essential books in our opinion haha!). When it came to their first look, they chose the song “I’m With You” by Vance Joy, so we played it and tried not to cry too hard as they finally had their moment where they could see each other and say “Dangggg I’m marrying you good lookin’” – they didn’t actually say that but we’re assuming that is basically what their brains were screaming LOL!

At the venue we were blessed with some amazing light!! The Symes is such a cool space, with its exposed brick, high ceilings + loads of windows, our creativity had no limits! We really got to play + these two had so much fun and were so down with our ideas and prompts! Because of the amazing light, we really got to play with shadows, light + dark, which made for some rad images! It also doesn’t hurt that these two looked incredible; Trevor’s Suit jacket was from Indochino + Evelyn’s Dress was a pre owned beauty from StillWhite, with the designer being Enzoani (That cape veil though!!!! A moment!)

Once their couples session was a wrap, we snapped some photos of these cuties with their family and their wedding party! The guys looked dapper as heck with their bowtie/suit combo + the bridesmaids dresses which were mismatched shades of rosy tones looked bomb (and comfy!! Yay for dresses you can move in!)

Minimalist, modern + neutral were the way of the venue decor + it truly suited the space and our couple so so much! Planner Alusha from A Lush Affair did an amazing job co-ordinating, and Jill from Lace&Birch killed it with all the amazing florals! The standout was the incredible cloud of baby’s breath that hovered over our couple during the ceremony! Who needs an arch when you’ve got a dreamy cloud made of flowers?!

The ceremony was perfect + we were even blessed with some golden hour vibes filtering through the windows! We can’t emphasize enough how lovely these two humans are and we were so happy that they finally got to make things official + just happy that they found each other in this lifetime!! Ughhhh our hearts!

When it came to their reception, things were forced to be adjusted because of the restrictions that were still in place! But roadblocks make for creative solutions + instead of the dinner and dancing that was originally planned, they opted to do an “extended ceremony” which meant that everyone stayed in their seats, and guests went up to say a speech, read a poem, or entertain with a bit of music! Everyone brought a little something to the table + it was awesome to still see them receive so much love + get to feel some of those celebratory vibes instead of just leaving straight after the ceremony!

We weren’t there, but we know that T+E rented a room at Hotel X to celebrate a little longer with their wedding crew, and we’re sure those cell phone and polaroid pics are priceless!
